The work starts with a cyanotype print using objects, plants and the figure to create a base composition. Layers of relief wood blocks and mono printing are applied intuitively using a colour sense that relates to the print/composition.
The wood block I use are a collection of marks and incisions made by others. The primary function of these wood blocks was to act as a cutting board protecting the surface been cut and the tool and machinery from damage. The marks left are incidental layers of the life span of the board with no other purpose.
By printing these boards, I am re-appropriating the marks, while also collaborating with the mark makers and their tools.
